The 500 Rs. 1000 Rs. note ban is causing lot of inconvenience to common man. It has also affected the theatre industry as people have no cash to spend. But as the saying goes ‘The Show Must Go On!’, many productions are giving an option of 'watch now pay later'.
Produced by Sunil Barve and directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari, 'Amar Photo Studio' will be performed on November 19, at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha. Earlier it was scheduled on November 11, but it was re-scheduled due to demonetisation by the government.
Considering that everyone is not familiar with online banking, they are ready to accept checks. If that to is not possible, the organizers are allowing the option to make the payments after watching the show.
Another play 'Code Mantra' is also giving a similar option. Director of the play Mukta Barve quoted while interviewing for ToI,
“We've applied for a swiping machine but it will take another 7-8 days to come. So, we will be able to accept cards for the show after this one but for now, we have to make do with whatever options we have."
This is probably a sign of relief for all the theatre lovers, they can now enjoy favorite actor’s performance without any problem.
