Demonetisation was certainly the talk of the town this year. But as we are about to step into the New Year, we thought of taking a moment to muse over 2016 a bit. Here’s what happened in Pune!
One of the biggest gatherings ever, this program had lacs of people coming down from all across the country to be a part of it early this year. RSS head, Mohan Bhagwat was there too. And the uniform transition from half pants to full pants was indeed a rejoicing moment.
Not just Pune, but this Sairat wave was literally all over. A chocolate boy falling in love with a girl full of life pleased us all. And thanks to Ajay-Atul, we’ve got Zingaat to groove to for a long time now.
The Ganeshotsav aura
This year, Dhol Pathaks enthralled the audience by mixing new flavours. Not to forget, it was during this procession that the famous ambulance incident happened. With a quick 40 seconds management and excellent coordination by the crowd, the ambulance found its way out. May not be a huge deal, but surely something worth appreciating.
As long as we talk about Ganeshotsav, Shaniwarwada this year was lit up by artists from Germany to increase the awareness of public spaces. Was a beautiful evening indeed. Also, Shrimant Bhau Rangari Trust opened its museum amidst all the controversies.
Pune witnessed its first Misal Mahotsav this year. This typically favourite Marathi snack was relished by everyone. While some may complain about the crowd, you can’t deny that this fest offered some unusual flavours.
Pune celebrated its first ever underwater fest in November. Swimmer or non-swimmer- didn’t matter, this one was enjoyed by all.
The monsoons this year were quite special, given their frequency. These heavy showers were welcomed with much affection.
Pune Marathon that didn’t happen
December in Pune always has Marathon. Unfortunately, it was called off this year, disappointing its regular participants. Well, half marathon did happen. And who can ever forget our hottie, Milind Soman, running barefoot with his mom alongside in saree.
Pune was chosen by the PM to be one of the smart cities of India. Under this initiative, multiple projects were launched, with its inauguration happening at Balewadi. Right from education to employability among others, we hope these initiatives would help the ones in need.
Inauguration of Metro
Just last week, PM inaugurated Pune Metro Project. We hope to get the best of it soonest.
Been quite a year. We hope 2017 is full of surprises and kindness. Reacho wishes all its readers a happy and prosperous year ahead.
