If asked the best thing of Pune then the unequivocally awesome weather is the answer you get here but if asked the worst thing then the word traffic is the only thing that gets popped out of mind.
But then Pune is an IT hub of Maharashtra where a huge crowd of engineers gets swarmed in. Now to match the requirements of the ever increasing crowd, a proposal of upgrading our beloved city is clearly seen on the cards.
The upgrading of city majorly includes Metro Project, Refurbished Airport, Smart City Projects and other many more projects...
1. Expansion of the airport:
Taking in account the increase in air traffic, an expansion of Lohegaon Airport will be seen. Post expansion, the airport will be able to handle 2-4 million additional passengers.
2. Ring Road- 129-km:
It seems to be that the proposal of 129-km will be the longest road in the country. The project cost is said to be Rs. 17, 412 crore with eight flyovers, one tunnel and six bridges. The road is assumed to pass through Haveli, Maval, Mulshi, Khed and other 58 villages. According to Kiran Gitte, CEO and metropolitan commissioner of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) the work would begin by the month of October 2017.
3. Pune’s Metro:
Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is also gearing up to work on Pune’s 3rd Metro Line. This line will connect Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. The approximate price would cost around Rs. 7,500 crore.
4. In Addition to it...
With all these things structuring with time, an additional Rs. 10 crore is dedicated to the restoration of rivers like Mula-Mutha. From four year down the line, the PMC will be planning to dedicate Rs. 18,000 crore for improving city’s transportation and this includes Bus Rapid Transit System, which promises dedicated bus corridors, the High Capacity Mass Transit Route, and a cycle track.
