Take A Stroll At India’s Only Friendship Park: Pune's Pu La Deshpande Garden

The garden was formerly known as the Okayama Friendship Garden.

Pune is known for its lush greenery and has some well-maintained gardens. One of them is the Pu La Deshpande Garden which was formerly known as Okayama Friendship Garden.

The Okayama Friendship Garden is also called the Japanese Garden. The design is inspired from the ‘Korakuen Garden’, a well-known place in Okayama in Japan. 

The Okayama Friendship Garden was renamed as Pu La Deshpande Garden after the veteran writer's death in 2000 to give him a tribute for his outstanding contribution to literature.

A wide area of around 10 acres has been occupied by the garden which represents, the modern structure and the heritage culture of an authentic Japanese Garden.
