I can say this without a blink of an eye that every Punekar (or even non-Punekar) has waited for a seat in the Café Goodluck at least a handful of times in their lives for far!
The place which is Pune’s food pride has served us the most delectable food which draws us to its doors frequently! But looks like the wait time is going to be cut short for the café is all set to open its second branch.
Yes! Café Goodluck will have another address at the Baner-Pashan Link Road. The café will be located near Origin Bistro just where earlier the ‘Flying Duck’ restaurant was situated.
According to a source, it will be open in the next 10-15 days. Ah! We can’t wait to gorge on their kheema-pav at their new outlet which we assume to be a silent sister of the original branch.
What started as the first garden restaurant in Pune in 1932, the café has now become an-all-time-buzzing food haunt. Haji Hussain Ali is said to be the man behind making the café what it is today. After Ali’s demise, his brother Kasim led the restaurant.
Funnily enough, the café was not such a hit amongst the young crowd until 2004. It was always thought to be a place for the oldies who’d want while away time with their friends. It was the renewed menu that brought in students from the nearby colleges and soon crowd started pouring in!
The aroma of their scrumptious omelette will lure you if you find yourself standing at the busy intersection of Bhandarkar and Fergusson College roads. Once in, you’d not want to leave without having their beloved delicacies. The café’s charm could not even be resisted by Bollywood stars such as Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, David Dhawan etc.
If you’re new to Pune or still haven’t been to this café, then you should also tuck in some bun maska and chai, omelette, spicy bheja masala or bheja chutney with rice and end your meal with their delectable chocolate mousse or a caramel pudding.
Looks like “luck” has actually started taking this café to places! Starting Baner!
