A man from Pune came up with a unique way to make India Open Defection Free (ODF), by constructing thermocol toilets. Yes you heard it right! Ramdas Mane's company is making toilets out of thermocol with cement coating, in just two hours.
Talking to a news agency Mane said, "We also give these as a wedding gift to girls who don't have the capacity to build toilets, and have given it to 25 girls till now."
As these toilets can be moved, the company supply these all over the country. Till now, 22,000 toilets have been supplied in different parts of the county.
For his innovative thought, Mane has been awarded with several government and non-government organizations including the India CSR's with Sanitation leadership award 2016. Mane runs this business of building toilets on no loss, no profit basis.
Limca Book of records also featured him in 2007. Countries like Australia and Uruguay had awarded Mane for his pioneering work.
The company named 'Mane group of Companies' was started back in 1993. The company initially build thermocol machines.
According to Mane 80 percent of the thermocol in India is produced by his machines. He also supplies these machines to about 45 countries.
Mane, who belongs to a poor family in Satara district got patent for the thermocol recycling machine.
He has worked a lot to bring his company in this position, according to him his annual turnover is Rs 40 crores with 70 employees working for him. Several countries buy his thermocol machine as he provides good quality in less price.
