Hyperloop Transportation System Will Reduce Mumbai-Pune Travel To 20 Minutes!

The US-based company, Virgin Hyperloop will conduct a preliminary study in the region.

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has signed a MoU with Virgin Hyperloop One, a Los Angeles- based company, on Wednesday.

Nick Earle, SVP Global Field Operations, Virgin Hyperloop One said,

To coincide with the Digital India initiative and the pivotal role that technology will play in it, Virgin Hyperloop One can be a key facilitator.

He further said,

India has a proud track record of technological advancement by leapfrogging legacy solutions as illustrated by the successful national rollout of 3G and 4G networks. Hyperloop represents a leapfrog opportunity which will enable a dramatic reimagining of the complete transportation system.

CM Devendra Fadnavis, Senior Vice-President for global field operations Nick Earle and office-bearers of the PMRDA were present in the meeting which was held in Mantralaya, Mumbai.

With this memorandum, the state aims to conduct a pre-feasibility study of routes in the Pune-Mumbai region, which facilitates the transportation of passengers.

Hyperloop is a new mode of transportation which carries passengers, freights in pods via electro-magnetic propulsion through the low-pressure tube, the speed is up to 1,080 km per hour.
