Other than the narrow lanes buzzing with people to pick up things, Peth areas of Pune are known for having some really good eateries. And what makes them even better is that almost all of them are easily affordable. Check out some places personally recommended by Puneri foodies.
1. Shri Upahar Gruha, Sadashiv Peth
This Peth is widely popular for its misal and batata wada. And you know what the best part is? You don’t get charged for extra rassa when you order misal. Quite a good deal, no?
2. Tilak Tea, Sadashiv Peth
If chai and fried snacks is what you love, then Tilak must be there on your list. Their kachori and bread patties is recommended by many. If you have a sweet tooth, the coconut barfi that you get at their counter is just too hard to resist.
3. New Sweet Home, Kumthekar Road
Sabudana kichadi with shengdana ladoo is a great choice here on any day. And their mutter karanji is another good pick.
4. New Poona Boarding House, Laxmi Road
This place is the one you go to if you wish to have a hearty meal. Their thali fills up right upto the neck and is quite affordable too! The authentic Maharashtrian thali here makes you visit this place again and again.
5. Badshahi, Tilak Road
Again, undoubtedly one good place to eat misal pav. You must try their thalipeeth, wada sambar and piyush (a cold beverage) too. The list does not end here. Their potato toast with dahi is to die for.
6. Khau Galli near Jnana Prabodhini School
Right from sheera to sabudana wada, from dosas to pohe, everything is available here. But the top recommendation remains the crisp and yum samosa at Anarse Samosewale.
7. Prabha Vishranti Gruha, Narayan Peth
Batata wada is what you by default order here. Other than that, their sabudana khichadi and wada is quite tasty too.
We will be back soon with the extended part of this list. Till then, make sure to drop in your suggestions in the comments below.
