Nagpur Metro is all set to commence its inspection process today. The Executive Director (Uban Transport High Speed) of Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO), Lucknow, Rajesh Kumar reached the city for general inspection.
Kumar will inspect the track which is 5.8 km long at grade section of Nagpur Metro. It is said that the trial run will be held soon.
Times of India quoted Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Mahametro as saying, "He has cleared documents for seven approvals needed for Nagpur Metro. Now he wants to see with his own eyes what we have done so far. It's a general inspection."
Dixit also confirmed that Rajesh Kumar will be in the city for two days.
Reportedly the RDSO team works under Kumar who will reach to the city in the third or fourth week of this month.
"After the Board clears the proposal, it will go to the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety. The commissioner will issue us the approvals," the Times of India quoted Dixit as saying.
Five approvals have been already resaved from the Mahametro for Nagpur Metro.
However, formal internal trial run of Nagpur Metro date is yet to be finalized. According to the sources, Mahametro officials want to invite Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari and Chairperson-cum-Managing Director of SBI, Arundhati Bhattacharya for the trial but unfortunately, they are unable to get the three together on the same day.
However, Dixit confirms that trial work will not be affected by the delaying of the function.
The first RDSO commercial operation trial will be conducted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). And only after the CMRS clears the project, the commercial operation can commence.
