Phase II of the Nagpur Metro will face a delay in completion due to its associated agencies. Mahametro consultant RITES, which is preparing the detailed project report (DPR), has informed that it the second phase will be completed by June-end, while it was supposed to get done by April-end.
“We will suggest some modifications if any, and then our consultant will submit the final report in June end,” TOI quoted source.
The state urban development ministry will approve the DPR sent by MahaMetro. Then, the ministry will forward it to the state cabinet. The cabinet will go through it and forward it to Niti Ayog. The Ayog member will analyze it and push it to the Union cabinet. Finally, once the Union cabinet clears the DPR, phase II will be considered as approved.
With the cost of Rs10,860 crores being involved, the phase II of Nagpur Metro will cover the stretch of 48 kilometers. It will hold a total of 34 stations and will have five routes, most of it which will be elevated.
The phase will cover a distance of 13 km with 13 stations including Khasara village, Lekha Nagar (Kamptee), Kamptee Town and Dragon Palace Temple. The first corridor will be from Automotive Square to Kanhan.
While connecting Khapri to Butibori MIDC, the second corridor will be 19 km long. The 9 stations will connect Jamtha, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Butibori village, MHADA Colony and Indorama Colony.
The third corridor will be 6 km long with six stations. It will be an extension of the route from Lokmanya Nagar to Hingna Tehsil Office.
Extension from Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar is the fourth corridor and it will be 4 km long and has 4 stations.
5 km long with two stations, the fifth corridor will connect Vasudeo Nagar to Dattawadi with stations like Raisoni College, Hingna MIDC, and Dattawadi in between.
