Union urban development (UD) ministry has introduced a mobile application called Swachhata App. The app will deal with the public issues and help citizens to locate nearby public toilets.
The app is now available for Android users and one can find it on Google Play Store. Nearly 226 public toilets in the city can be located by the 'Public Toilet Nearby' feature of the app.
"More locations would be added in future," TOI quoted health officer (sanitation) Dr Pradip Dasarwar.
The app can locate about 66 toilets at fuel stations and 15 toilets at hospitals. It also has toilets of 23 gardens across the city.
"Earlier, there was only one feature in the app wherein the users would post complaints related to garbage not cleared, sweeping not done etc. The NMC provided data of all the public toilets with locations to Google Maps and the information was uploaded to the map," TOI further quoted Dr Dasarwar.
The app will also allow the user to write a review of the facilities at the toilets.
The present conditions of the toilets will also be improved and upgraded. Citizens can also rate the cleanliness of the public utility on the data which is now available on Google Maps.
The NMC is planning to constantly update the locations of all the public toilets in the app for user benefit.
"So far, we have resolved 19,774 complaints and 17,944 complaints were attended within 12 hours after being lodged," informed Dr Dasarwar.
