A 22-year-old Nagpur woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Mumbai where she was living for the past two months.
The young woman, who also happened to be the daughter of an Assistant Police Inspector, was murdered by her batchmate Niklesh Patil and his friends Nilesh Khobragade and Akshay Valode.
"On Sunday, Patil along with his friend, Nilesh Khobragade, drove down from Nagpur to Pune in latter’s car and met the victim in Pune. They decided to drop the victim in Mumbai where she had been living for the past two months. However, in the night, they decided to halt at the co-accused, Akshay Valode’s Ambernath residence on the outskirts of Mumbai," reports Indian Express. It was there that the victim was raped, and when she threatened the perpetrators with police action, murdered. The three accused then left Mumbai immediately, disposing of the body - stuffed in a suitcase - in Belagavi.
All three accused surrendered to Ratnagiri Police and a zero complaint case was registered. They have been slapped with charges under section 376 (2)(g) (gang rape), 302 (murder), 201 (destroying evidence), and 34 (common intention) of IPC.
“All the three accused have been arrested and handed over to the Thane police where the alleged offence took place. While Patil and Valode have been arrested for gangrape and murder, Khobragade has been arrested for destruction of evidence,” said SP, Ratnagiri, Pranay Ashok as reported by IE.
