RTMNU students in a spirit to bring a change and do good deeds have launched a campaign to provide free education for the farmers’ kids.
A group of students has formed Nagpur University Students' Union (NUSU) and would be meeting Vice Chancellor SP Kane to push for the cause on Monday.
The group also has some members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), who are participating merely as students in the campaign to keep it apolitical, they told TOI.
The vice president of NUSI and the member of the group said,
"The campaign was launched after some students approached us seeking help. Being students of Nagpur University, we thought that it is a serious issue and shouldn't be politicized. We floated a new union exclusively for the children of farmers so that any student can join us."
It was recently announced by VC SP Kane that the university would be offering free education to students if their farmer parent had committed suicide.
Commenting on it Singh said, “We feel why only suicide-hit families. Why can't the RTMNU offer free education to all of them. In fact, the NU must have a permanent scheme for farmers' families," said Singh.
We wishe NUSU all the best for their campaign and hope it brings a positive change.
