Nagpur got another reason to feel proud, as city’s girl prove her mettle and bagged a silver medal at the Lagos International Challenger Badminton tournament at Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday..

The Lagos International Challenger Badminton tournament is a four-day tournament which was organized by the Badminton Confederation of Africa.
Mugdha, who is a fourth seed runner made her way to final but unfortunately, couldn’t win against Sri Lanka's Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa. Hendahewa registered a 21-12, 21-19 victory in the women's singles final and Mugdha had to settle for the silver medal.
Hendahewa also knocked out three Indian players including Vaishnavi Jakka Reddy, Gummadi Vrushali and sixth seed Vaidehi Choudhari.
Ranked 184th in the world, Mugdha was trained under Jibi Verghese and also got 1120 US dollars for her effort.
With this achievement, Mugdha has now become the third city shuttler after Arundhati Pantawane and Ritika Thaker to reach the women's singles final in an international tournament.
Ahead of her next championship, Mugdha will now play in the All India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament which will commence from 31 July.
