Walkathon is one of the celebrated projects of Rotary Club of Nagpur started in 2005. Where the participation was 500-1000 persons in the initial years, it has significantly grown now to 5000-10000 persons hailing from the various regions of Vidarbha.
Arnjea Heart & Multispecialty Hospital, Central India’s most advanced cardiac care facility in Nagpur, has also been the strongest proponent and partner of the event for years.
Shedding light on the importance of Walkathon and why more people should participate, renowned cardiologist Dr. Arneja who has been associated with the event as title sponsor for 15 years now, said, “Nowadays lifestyle disorders like heart attacks, diabetes and BP are increasing and affecting people at a younger age."
"Modern day lifestyle and physical inactivity are the main reasons for this increase. Walking or running is the easiest form of exercise for a healthy lifestyle," he added.
For the first time, the event is also promoted alongside its own mascot – an animated tiger wearing a Rotary cap and a Heart-badged t-shirt.
The proceeds of Walkathon & Dream Run 2018 will be utilized to shape other social causes of Rotary Club of Nagpur.
This project is been executed under the able guidance and support of the president of the Club Rtn Rina Sinha, Past President Dr. Sanjiv Chugh, Rtn Kapil Bahri, President-Elect and Director Walkathon Chairpersons: Rtn Mahendra Kamat, Rtn Rajendra Jaiswal, Rtn Navneet Jain, Rtn Nivedita Pendharkar, Rtn Shweta.
