In a recent action taken by the cyber complaint cell (C3), a fake international call center was busted in Sant Gnyaneshwar Nagar, Mankapur.
The police have managed to book three accused. One of the three named Yash Raut is 20 years old and was working as call center employee. He had also trained the accomplices to use foreign accents.
The other two accused identified as Shubham Tagde, 22, and Sonusingh Bhamra, 18, have allegedly duped many nationals from America and England faking as a representative of a well-known financial institution which provides loans for various projects.
According to the police, they used to convince their victims to share their business and finance details required for sanctioning the loans and also asked for processing fees. Once they got the processing fees through the online payment system, the three would call off all the communications with the victim.
They have pocketed nearly six lakhs duping several clients from abroad.
As per the C3 unit Inspector Bhanudas Pidurkar, this action has been taken after the information has been provided by a source, "The alleged tricksters ensured that they kept the processing fees lower like five and ten dollars to ensure their intention was not doubted."
"The three had mastered the accent enough that they made a believable presentation before the clients whom they duped," he added.
