Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and Mahametro to take over the entire 6.4 acre land of Haldiram's Foods’ Krazy Castle Aqua Park.
The land will be grabbed to build a Metro Rail corridor, parking, station and commercial complex.
A committee comprising of divisional commissioner Anup Kumar, collector Sachin Kurwe, and NIT chairman Deepak Mhaisekar has been made for the same by Gadkari.
Rs 162 crore has been decided as the compensation for Haldiram's from NIT.
On Tuesday, Gadkari took a meeting with officers of various departments including Mahametro, NIT, NMC, Railways, NHAI, WCL regarding many projects.
A spokesperson from the Haldiram Foods requested Gadkari to give some land to the company to run the water park but the proposal was apparently rejected.
“Mahametro can build a commercial complex in remaining space. Mahametro should give some space in it for the food court to Haldiram Foods if the latter is interesting. Mahametro could adjust food court cost in compensation amount," TOI quoted Gadkari.
It is said that Haldiram Foods’ representatives have accepted Gadkari’s decision. Gadkari also suggested the company to move to High Court if they are not satisfied with the compensation.
The minister also directed NIT and Mahametro to start the demolishing process of Krazy Castle as soon as possible.
