Under the section 20 of the Indian Forest Act 1927, the Maharastra state government has finally notified Nagpur’s Gorewada and Ambazari as reserve forests.
The notification was issued by the Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Virendra Tiwari after the final settlements of all claims by the forest settlement officer.

Before this, both the areas were under section 4 which implies to government's intention to declare them as reserve forests. Though Forest (Conservation) Act 1980 implies in such cases too.
In 1990, these areas were handed over to the forest department in replacement of forest that was diverted for Bawanthadi dam bordering MP and Maharashtra.

Earlier, there was confusion among people and also leaders that both the forest areas don't invoke FCA. This had led to uncontrolled grazing. But with this development, now it will be easy to book the offenders.
