Nagpur will soon get a district hospital with a capacity of 100 beds. Taking action on the plan which was made three years ago, the state public works department (PWD) is set to complete the project in the next two years.
In a report published in TOI, West Nagpur MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh informed that the work order has been already issued by PWD to NS Constructions for the civil works.
“All formalities related to the project have been completed. We will try our best to bring the new hospital into operation as soon as possible,” he said.
The project will be set up on an 8.90-acre land, next to Regional Mental Hospital at Pagalkhana square.
The project which will cost around Rs 28.48 crore, has been approved by the state public health department. PWD executive engineer Rajkumar Jaiswal informed that the G+1 floor building of the hospital will be developed as a green building.
“Civil works cost is Rs 16.04 crore. NS Constructions bagged the work quoting 15.14% below for Rs 13.72 crore. All green initiatives like solar power, rainwater harvesting, construction materials etc will be utilized in the building. The contractor has to complete the work within 18 months,” he said.
The remaining amount will be spent on electrification, interiors, furniture, medical equipment and additional works by the public health department and PWD.
District civil surgeon will be in charge of the hospital. Even his current office will be moved to the district hospital from the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College.
The hospital will come as a major relief for the people from West, South-West, North Nagpur and rural parts of the district.
.“There is no government hospital in this part of the city. I have sought time of CM Devendra Fadnavis for bhoomipuja and it will be done soon,” MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh added.
The hospital will be equipped with various medical services like X-ray, CT Scan, MRI, Operation theatre, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Out Patients Department (OPD).
The new district hospital will be the fourth government hospital in the city after Government Medical College and Hospital, IGGMC, Super Speciality, and Daga Hospital.
