A heart-wrenching video of a man thrashing a monkey has gone viral on the social media. The man is seen beating the animal with belt, stick and his footwear. Reason? The monkey strayed into the man's farm.
In the two videos that went viral, the first video shows the man brutally beating the monkey with a long stick. In the other video, he has hanged monkey upside down from a tree and is beating the animal with belt and footwear.
The incident happened in Kurha village, which is approximately 25 kilometers from Risod, Washim.
After watching the video, the forest department started tracing the accused and booked three men with the help of local police.
Police have reportedly booked three accused, two of which are underage.
In the initial investigation, they reportedly admitted killing the monkey. The monkey has strayed into Pawan Bangar's farm, who is identified as one of the prime accused.
"Seeing the animal at his tur farm, Bangar got annoyed and started beating the animal severely. When it was unable to move, he hung it up on the tree," said Ashok Wayal, Washim assistant conservator of forests (ACF) while talking to TOI.
Bangar has been granted forest custody remand (FCR) till December 22 by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Risod. On the other hand, minors were produced before the president of Bal Nyay Mandal but the decision is yet to be taken.
After this incident, various animal rights activists have asked for strict actions.
