Kasturchand Park Will Be Blessed With A Walking And Cycling Track In the Next 4 Months

Kasturchand Park will soon be endowed with a walking and a cycling trail for public use. The tracks will be added within the next four months. As a part of the renovation, a selfie point will also be constructed. Approximately seven types of plants will be planted alongside the track and in the backdrop of the selfie point. The renovation project also consists of plans to build an Ashok stambh. A video wall will also be added.

On Sunday, a bhoomipoojan was performed in the premises of ground. Present on the occasion were: CM Devendra Fadnavis, union minister Nitin Gadkari, guardian minister Chandrashekar Bawankule, mayor Nanda Jichkar, ruling party leader Sandip Joshi, MLAs Sudhakar Deshmukh, Dr Milind Mane, NIT chairman Deepak Mhaisekar, collector Sachin Kurve, municipal commissioner Ashwin Mudgal and others.

The beautification project of KP was sketched by city’s well-known architect Ashok Mokha. On the occasion of bhoomipoojan, Mokha gave a powerpoint presentation of his plans for the park. He revealed that Solar Industries Limited is the one to sponsor the walking and cycling tracks, selfie point and the plants to be potted throughout the track route. The sponsorship amounts to Rs. 2.50 crores. They have also taken the onus to execute it.

While speaking to TOI, he said: “Seven types of plants will be planted on both the sides of tracks, around bandstand and on background of the selfie point. The selfie point, which will face RBI square, will be illuminated at night. Later, NMC will execute works of Rs5.50 crore.”

India’s tallest flagpost will be erected by NMC in collaboration with a media house. An amphitheatre is also on cards as a part of the project. The beautification project in totality will cost about Rs. 11 crores.

According to Mokha, Ashok stambh will be placed adjacent to the selfie point and will face the RBI square, while the video wall will be on the Metro station’s wall.

The ‘bandstand’ which will be city’s first will be replete with a plaza and a walkway. Other amenities that will also be added are parking, seating, children’s play area, new gates, fountains, toilets, stormwater network, sewage line, track lights along with repairing of the compound wall.
