Government of India’s railway enterprise’ Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation’ (IRCTC) will commence a special tourist train named ‘Samanta Express’ that will cover prominent religious spot of Buddhism. The special train services will be launched on February 2, 2019.
The ‘Samanta Express’ will depart from the Nagpur railway junction on February 14 at 11am. All the major spots across India which are associated with the life of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Lord Buddha will be toured.
Speaking to TOI, IRCTC group general manager (west zone) Arvind Malkhede revealed that the entire tour package will be of 11 nights and 12 days. The tour will flag off from Mumbai’s Chaityabhoomi, cover the below mentioned places and end back in Mumbai.
According to Malkhede, the charge for a person in the sleeper class package is Rs.10,395 and that of the 3 Tier AC compartment will be Rs. 12,705. The train comprises of 16 coaches in all and the bookings for the same have already begun. One can book their tickets from the tourists facilitation centres, zonal and regional IRCTC offices.
The charges of the tour package are all inclusive of the lodging and boarding facility amount. The arrangements will be made by IRCTC itself. A support staff of 100 people will be deployed for the tour purpose.
