Clouds of smoke rose in the air near the Kingsway in Sadar in the early afternoon today.
The smoke originated from the newly constructed building of the Sancheti Hospital situated near the Kasturchand Park ground, which caught fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
People in the vicinity were seen rushing towards the hospital builing in order to save the lives of people who were trapped inside for a while. Around 200 people were inside the under-construction building when the fire broke out.15 people have been injured; however, no casualties have been reported. According to the bystanders, some people are still trapped inside the building.
The thick fires have gutted a major portion of the 10-storey building. Despite being non-operational, huge losses in terms of property is already being assessed.
A short circuit in the electric firing is rumored to be the tentative cause of the fire. Although, no persons have officially confirmed it yet. Fire fighter struggled to douse the flames whose smoke covered the skies in and around the area.
