This year, MADC (Maharashtra Airport Development Company) had floated two global tenders to get bidders for developing a modern food, agro, herbal and forest-based industrial park in the MIHAN area in Nagpur. However, MADC failed to get any response in the first two attempts but in the third, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali emerged as the only technically qualified bidder for the 230-acre park.

Yoga guru Ramdev had founded the company in 2006 but in the last two years has grown enormously big, expanding in everything from medicines to cosmetics. This latest endeavour to set up a park in Nagpur’s MIHAN area gives the company another opportunity to increase its footprint.

Getting the land was difficult for other companies owing to strange conditions like mandatory training of 1000 farmers every year from the region.

The growth in the last two years have also raised eyebrows whether the government is favoring Patanjali over others as Ramdeo is said to be close to the BJP.
