The trailer for Kong was recently out and the fans can’t just get enough of the sexy British actor tom Hiddleston!
Setting the Hounds of Baskerville to run free speculation, Tom Hiddleston, a.k.a. Loki, a.k.a. The Night Manager was recently rumoured to play the mysterious third Holmes brother on the mystery magic Sherlock.
The gossip grapevine got fans drooling at this year’s Comic-Con, especially the panel for Tumblr favourite Sherlock. Like every year, the cast hinted at new characters as clue that were set to appear in the upcoming season: Thatcher, Smith, and Sherrinford…Yes! Sherrinford! As in Sherrinford Holmes, the long-rumored pretty much imaginary eldest Holmes brother.
For those who aren’t well versed with the books, Sherrinford Holmes was the elder brother to Sherlock and Mycroft not in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle‘s tales but was later added by Holmes scholar William S. Baring-Gould in the book “Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street: A Life of the World’s First Consulting Detective.”
When pressed about the appearance of Sherrinford, co-creator Mark Gatiss (who plays the second Holmes brother Mycroft) said, “All good things to those who wait.” So we’re choosing to take that as a solid yes, because we’re nothing if not eternal optimists. But who, oh who, could be playing that third Holmes brother?
Rumors continued to escalate when Gatiss and Amanda Abbington (who plays Mary Watson) tweeted a photo with Hiddleston at the SDCC with a caption, “Blud.” Blud which is slang for “mate” but it’s also slang for “blood brother.”
But later Tom Hiddleston rubbished these rumours saying “I’ve never been approached to be in ‘Sherlock,'”. The High Rise actor stated “I don’t understand where that rumor has come from. So you heard it first, everybody: no ‘Sherlock.'” Well we somehow hope, AS OF NOW!
Sherlock is anyway a major hit on TV because it has Benedict Cumberbatch leading the series. But we would love to see along with his long time pal.
But rumor mills have not stopped about how Tom could star in some other roles in the series. If not his big brother then, he could have a surprise appearance. He could be one of those characters who pops in now and then at regular intervals and someone who shares some past with Sherlock.
Or he could play villain. Playing a bad guy comes naturally to Tom Hiddleston so Tom’s character could be may be help Toby Jones’ character or maybe someone who works for Moriarty. Either way, Sherlock locking horns with Loki will be such a sight!
Hiddleston could also play a character that is practically a ghost- A phantom role which will which cause prominent troubles for the detective while being totally absent from the actual scenes through a narrative or distant handler.
So while they are rooting for Hiddleston play James Bond next, we would rather have a union of two of the finest British studs!
