Will Dev Patel Be The First Indian Actor To Grab The Oscar?

The whole world is holding its breath for one of the biggest awards of the world - Oscars. The stage is all set for Oscars 2017 and this time it will be more special for India as Dev Patel has been nominated for best-supporting actor for the film "Lion".

If Dev gets the Oscar then he will become the first Indian to win an Academy Award for acting.

Dev has already bagged the BAFTA in the same category and now we all hope that he gets the Oscar too.

Talking to telegraph he said, "It's time an Indian won the Oscar." While talking about the comparison with African-American actors, he said, "The storytelling is where you want the diversity. But we're on the cusp of something. When you look at the African-American struggle in cinema, you've got these beacons like Sidney Poitier and Will Smith, and Denzel and Samuel L Jackson. Now tell me, how many Indians have gone on and won Oscars?"

‘Lion’ is based on a true story. The film is inspired by Saroo Brierley's book "A Long Way Home" and is nominated in six categories.
