Om Puri, one of the most versatile and celebrated actors in India, has died at 66. The Padma Shri-winning actor died of a heart attack at his home in Mumbai. As per sources, Puri returned home last evening after a shoot. Reportedly his door bell went unanswered on Friday morning, following which, his driver raised an alarm.
Om Puri rose to fame with films in the 1990s like Ardh Satya, Aakrosh and Paar. His popularity later extended to mainstream cinema, with iconic roles in films like Jaane Bhi DoYaaron and Maachis.
He also played a cameo in Richard Attenborough's Gandhi and also starred with Helen Mirren in Steven Spielberg's 2014 American comedy drama 'The Hundred-Foot Journey'.
He was recently seen in the movies 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Ghayal Once Again'.
Twitter seemed beaten by this heartbreaking news and condolences are pouring in for his sad demise.
