After BJP’s massive victory in Uttarakhand elections, Trivendra Singh Rawat is all set to become the ninth chief minister of the state. An RSS loyal, Rawat will be taking the oath on Saturday, March 18 in Dehradun.

Here is all you need to know about Trivendra Singh Rawat and his life:

1) Trivendra Singh Rawat was born in December 1960. His father, Pratap Singh Rawat was in Garhwal Rifles. His family had a tradition of serving in armed forces.

2) He did his schooling in Khaiarsain, his native village in Pauri Garhwal District, Uttarakhand.

3) Rawat was much inclined towards social work and hence that forced him to join RSS, at the age of 19.

4) He has done his post graduation in journalism from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and was also appointed as Uttarakhand organisational secretary.

5)He served there for five years. In 2007, Rawat was also the cabinet minister in the Khanduri government.

6) Rawat was also one of the three deputies attached to BJP President Amit Shah in Uttar Pradesh during the 2014 General Assembly Elections. This is one of the reasons why Rawat is considered as a close aide to Amit Shah.
