The Portuguese goal machine undoubtedly had the one of his best year where he finally managed to overtake Raul as the highest goal scorer for Madrid. Cristiano went past the impressive 323 goals mark previously set by Raul and achieved this magnificent feat in just 310 games. He also went on to win the long awaited European Championships with Portugal and the Champions League with Madrid, which was indeed a great achievement. Another feather in his cap was winning the most coveted FIFA Ballon d’OR for the best player of the season ahead of his nemesis Lionel Messi.
