BBC has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary series, Planet Earth II. The series is a sequel to Planet Earth which was released in 2006 to an overwhelmingly positive critical reception and still holds a rating of a whopping 9.5/10.
That series was made over a period of 5 years and in its 11 episodes featured a global overview of a different biome or habitat on the planet. At the end of each fifty-minute episode, a ten-minute featurette takes a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of filming the series. It was, at the time, the most expensive nature documentary series of all time and the first to have been shot completely in High Definition.
The sequel has upped the ante in every sense of the word and has been in the making for a full 10 years!
Judging from the trailer, it sure seems like we're all in for a treat what with the enchanting scenery and the rousing musical cues by one of the best music composers working today, Hans Zimmer.
The series will premiere on November 6 in Britain and will soon be broadcast around the world.
