Whitey Develle, a 22-year-old tattoo artist who lives in Brisbane, Australia, recently announced on her social media that she would offer free tattoo coverups to the self-harm survivors.
She calls her initiative as ‘The Scars Project’, and hopes to inspire the survivors with acceptance and pride.
She announced the project last year in March, and since then she has been bombarded with requests.
She believes that every person has his own struggles, and so we shouldn’t judge anyone purely on their appearance, it’s unjust. Develle plans to ink one or two free tattoos a week until the end of the year. After, she that she'll offer highly discounted tattoos to any remaining individuals who want a tattoo.
She decided to start this initiative after covering up her friend’s scars who also dealt with depression and an eating disorder.
