Summer has made an early entry this year and it seems to be in the mood to linger. However the soaring mercury shouldn’t stop you from looking your best. Floral trends and pastel colours are big this year. Read on for our picks from the latest trends this season:

1. Maxi-skirts

Ditch your maxi dresses for the more versatile skirts. These are classic and come in various varieties-split, wrap around, button-down and so on. Buy one in a light fabric and team it up with a fitted top or a crop top and flats for a day in the sun.

2. Culottes

Culottes are trousers cut with wide hems to resemble a skirt. Think palazzo pants sans the length. These are more functional and comfortable than denims for the summer, and can be paired up with absolutely anything. Accessorise with a belt and funky jewellery to go from work to an evening out!

3. Off-shoulder anything

As much as we would like to, Indian summers do not allow for a lot of bare skin, what with the sun threatening to roast us! Add the required oomph to your outfit with an off-shoulder top in a breezy fabric. Team it up with skirts, shorts or jeans for a boho-chic look.

4. Summer Dress

Kate Middleton answered the Indian heat with her comfy printed dress (which btw, sold out within HOURS of her appearance in it). We too, love this airy dress which screams style (and, added bonus, no tan!). When it comes to simple elegance, the Duchess of Cambridge can teach us a lesson or two, as seen in her butter yellow dress here.

5. Good ol’ Kurta with a twist

Heavy sequinned anarkalis are so last year! Up your glam quotient at weddings this season with a classic white cotton kurta which lets you breathe- teamed up with a bright jacket or a statement dupatta. Or you could add a burst of colour with neon salwars and gold/silver sandals. Throw in a pair of long jhumkas and some bangles, and you are good to go!

What is your go-to ensemble this season?
