Yes, you heard it right! Shah Rukh Khan is in for making quite some bucks. In a bid to capture the streaming-video market in India, California-based media giant Netflix has struck a deal with the the Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan and his production house Red Chillies Entertainment.
So, our SRK is now in league with the stalwarts like Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey. Sharukh Khan has made Bollywood pretty popular in the West and Netflix believes that he can help win over global audiences especially owing to his hit films and his recent feat of topping the Forbes list.
Netflix will have global streaming rights to all the Red Chillies films to date and also the new movies from the production house will release within the next three years. The first film to woo the audiences worldwide will be Khan’s newly released film "Dear Zindagi". Others, including Happy New Year, Dilwale, and Om Shanti Om, will follow, Netflix said.
In the current market, there is tough competition between Amazon and Netflix and this leap by Netflix is being seen as a counter measure to Amazon's deals with major Indian studios like Dharma Productions and Vishesh Films.
But come what may, SRK and Netflix fans seem to be delighted by this news and why not!
