It is common knowledge that Shah Rukh Khan had a humble beginning. With theatre in his heart, he made his debut on TV way before the silver screen, with his quality work bearing testimony to his versatile acting skills.
Before landing on the big screen, Khan was known for his acting in popular television serials.
His first was the army show Fauji in 1989 followed by his dramatic role in Dil Dariya (1988).
However, the most successful one was Circus. It was directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah and revolved around a circus troupe's day-to-day life. SRK has come a long way since then, from being a next-to-nobody to being one of the most recognised stars globally.
Deciding to cash into his ever-lasting popularity, DD National has come up with a genius plan to rerun the show and garner some audience.
On Monday, Doordarshan that aired Circus surprised SRK's fans by announcing the rerun starting 19 February on their channel, 8 pm onwards.
So his love for TV is pretty well known. "I have a lot of people around me who do acting and still work in television serials. So, if stardom is equated in terms of the value of payment and value of time, then the television stars are much bigger stars. Television is as respectable as films." he had once quoted back in the 90's.
SRK once told The Hindu, "I have worked on all the different platforms, be it theatre, films, TV — but genuinely, TV is my favourite."
