Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s ‘derogatory and degrading’ tweet about the newly-crowned Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhilar, has not gone down well with The National Commission of Women (NCW). The commission has sent out a summon for Tharoor on Sunday.

What might have been a witty tweet from Tharoor’s point of view, certainly wasn’t one for the Twitterati. The Twitterati condemned the Congress leader’s sense of humor for comparing Manushi’s name to ‘loose change’.

In a series of reply to Tharoor, NCW tweeted: "NCW condemn the tweet of @INCIndia leader @ShashiTharoor. He degraded the achievement of daughter of #haryana and #India who got glory to the country. Tharoor's tweet read:

"What a terrific answer by this bright young woman -- a real credit to Indian values! #missworldmanushi," he tweeted.
