23-year old Sakshi Malik became the first-ever Indian grappler to win a medal at the Olympics by winning back-to-back matches in Rio.
Sakshi defeated Kyrgyztan's Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 to clinch her maiden bronze medal in the final round of women’s 58 kg freestyle wrestling via Repechage bouts.
She trailed by 0-5 but made a stupendous comeback in the final two minutes of the match and defeated her opponent in a spectacular fashion.
We are immensely proud of her and wish her all the best for all her future endeavours. May she scale new heights!
