How safe are women in our country? And how often have we pestered our ‘Netas’ with this question? Well, quite a many times now.
But then India is crammed up with ironical instances, and the latest is of Congress leader Rohit Tilak, the great-grandson of Bal Gangadhar Tilak who according to the police has been booked for allegedly raping a woman and forcing her into “unnatural” sex.
According to the police, Rohit knew the 40-year-old complainant from past few years now and said,
"The complainant alleged that Rohit repeatedly raped her on the pretext of marrying her."
The case has certainly piled up the criminal charges against the culprit by slapping charges of rape, unnatural offences, voluntarily causing hurt, insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code.
Rohit actually carries a legacy; he is the great-grandson of freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak and grandson of late Jayantrao Tilak, who was a senior Congress leader and a Member of Parliament.
This shameful act, if proven, threatens to tarnish the legacy of the great freedom fighter Bal Tilak.
