Mukesh Ambani, at an event on Thursday declared that free services rendered under the Reliance Jio Welcome offer have been extended till March 31 for its current as well as new users. Reliance Jio offer created a huge amount of stir since its inception and had people stand in long queues to get its SIM card. Users have been anxiously awaiting this announcement by the Reliance Industries Chairman but there are certain changes in the extension plan.
In his announcement, all the 52 million users can continue using the services till March 31 without any need of buying a new sim. However the Jio users will now have a FUP limit of 1GB. After the use of provided 1GB data, users will experience slower speeds. The reason behind this move is intended to prevent congestion of network. According to the recent statistics, 8 percent of the users were facing issues with slow speed because maximum users were loading up on the free data by using large amounts of data.
Ambani also added that Jio will now fully support MNP so that all customers can retain their number while migrating to Jio. He also promised to bring the call-blocking rate from 20% to a minimum of 0.2%. It only remains to be seen the kind of response Reliance will receive from its users.
