The Battle of Saragarhi is known to mankind as one of the bravest last-stands in a war, ever.
It took place on September 12, 1897 between members of the 11th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen in the erstwhile North-West Frontier Province, i.e. the modern day Pakistan.
21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 tribesman in the battle, killed around 500 of them and mortally wounded many others. They sacrificed their lives to protect their motherland and their tale of bravery is celebrated as Saragarhi Day every year on 12 September.
Now, Rajkumar Santoshi is all set to adapt the story for the medium of cinema titled ‘Saragarhi’ and Randeep Hooda has been chosen to portray the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, the leader of the pack.
His first look from the movie has been revealed and he looks glorious and fierce as a lion!
We have high hopes from this one because of the talent involved.
Stay tuned for more!
