A few days ago, there was news that Rakesh Roshan changed the release date of his home production Kaabil to avoid the clash with SRK starrer Raees. The release date of Kaabil was shifted to the evening of January 25 instead of the morning of January 26 (Republic Day).
But the problem occurred when Raees makers too changed the date of their release to January 25th morning. When SRK was asked about this at the launch event, he said that it was discussed a long time ago with the exhibitors and distributor that Raaes will be opening in the regular shows and Kaabil will open in the evening shows on 25th. It is a logical decision because 26th is a holiday.
In an interview to DNA, producer Rakesh Roshan expressed his agony about the latest news,
"I didn't know about their date. My distributors said we should come out on January 25 from the evening shows. I didn't know the Raees team also planned to change their date."
He later added,
“Whatever dates we are taking, they (Raees) are following us. I would have never done the same. I belong to an old school of filmmaking and I have given 50 years of my life to the industry. I would never release my film on a day when another filmmaker has already announced their film.”
Box office clashes are a thing in Bollywood now a days. Stay tuned to know the latest updates.
