Police constable couple who had claimed they climbed the Mt. Everest have been suspended.
The Rathods, both 30, took a leave in April to participate in an expedition to scale Mt. Everest. Later, they organised a press conference in Kathmandu and claimed they scaled the peak on May 23.
Pune Police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla received a written complaint on June 17 from a group of mountaineers accusing that the couple’s claim is fake. Commissioner Shukla immediately ordered a preliminary inquiry into the claim.
Later, a software engineer from Kolkata, Satyaroop Siddhanta said that the photos which Rathod couple took at the Everest summit were morphed.
A suspension order has been issued on November 15 and now a department inquiry will be initiated against the couple.
