As the congress party searches for a credible reason for its withering defeat in the recent assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, a party leader from Ballia district has put up a poster outside the party office in Lucknow, announcing a reward of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who finds congress poll strategist Prashant Kishor and bring him before the party workers, reports The Indian Express.
Rajesh Singh, a secretary in the UP congress committee, claimed to have put up the poster, on Saturday, on behalf of all the congressmen. Singh, who has served Congress for more than 20 years, blamed poll strategist Kishore for the party’s loss.
“For the last one year, we have been made to work like fools without asking any questions. We were told to work as he (Kishor) wanted us to without any ifs and buts we did so thinking that probably it was best for the revival of the party. But now we need answers,” said Rajesh Singh, as per the reports stated by The Indian Express.
Congress party however denied all the allegations made by Rajesh Singh and on Sunday, for his missive against Kishor, the party suspended him for six years, reports NDTV.
Randeep Surjewala, Congress’ chief spokesperson lauded Kishor for his performance, saying that the party valued the hard work and contribution of him and his team.
Prashant Kishor, who was credited for helping Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, was appointed by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. A report submitted by India Today claims that Kishor was the one who suggested Congress to join hands with the Samajwadi Party.
