Followers of horror films must know the story of Annabelle, the doll which was possessed and hurt its owners. The film's story is fresh in our mind but what if we told you Annabelle exists in the real world?
Yes, you heard it right- this is probably one of the most horrifying stories that you are going to read today. The story is about an allegedly possessed doll which was sold on an e-commerce site called eBay by its owner. The doll was allegedly attacking its previous owner and continued attacking its new owner, when he was asleep.
What makes it worse is the doll’s history.
This doll has been accused of attacking its owners and setting off fire alarms and other mischief like this.
Debbie Merrick, the first owner of the doll said it attacked her husband, scratching him in his sleep. After facing all this, Debbie Merrick decided to sell the doll on eBay.
This is when Lee Steer, a paranormal investigator from Rotherham in the UK, bought it for $1,100 after an intense idea of investigation tickled the paranormal enthusiast.
Lee, who lives with his parents Paul and Amy Steer soon started feeling some weird happenings at their place as he brought the doll home.
Later Lee's father Paul, discovered scratches on his arm.
"My dad was downstairs in the morning, at this point the doll was still packed away, and he heard a tapping noise on wood. He said it was a bit unusual", the 30-year-old paranormal researcher said.
Later when he was watching a show with the doll at his side, he (Lee’s father Paul) said to his wife,
"My arm’s hurting." He lifted up his sleeve and he had six scratches on his arm. My mum shouted to me, ‘Lee, you best get downstairs – your dad’s getting affected. He’s got scratches on him".
The scratches were pretty similar to the scratches on Debbie’s husband, however, Paul doesn’t have any idea where they came from.
Lee even tried to find out about the doll:
"I’ve used a random words app that some people believe spirits can manipulate, and when I’ve asked its name it’s said ‘Samantha’. When I said I really wanted to piss it off, it said, ‘Strike Lee’ ".
Lee found out that the doll has an innate hatred of married men as the doll is attacking his dad and former owner Debbie's husband Cameron.
"We've done some research and found out it's from America, and that kind of doll was given to newly married couples. It's difficult to prove, but we have heard from one woman who claims she had sold the doll, and that it had come from a house of a woman who had owned a thousand of these dolls".
Now the question is why would someone spend $1,100 on a possessed doll, who is continuously hurting people?
