This eerie love story would definitely blow your mind because this story ain't a regular one! Grape-kun was a 20-year-old penguin and was popularly known for dating a fictional 2D character of his zoo. Got confused?

Grape was in love with Hululu who happens to be a cartoon character from the Japanese anime “Kemono Friends”. The reason he switched to date a fictional character was because of the heartbreak he had after being dumped by his former penguin mate called Midori.

The penguin was so madly in love with Hululu that most of the times he would skip his meal and stand in front of her and staring her.

But this poor little penguin was so obsessed with her that the staff of the zoo would always have to remove her cut-out temporarily in order to make him eat.

Grape was not in pink of his health so, the zoo posted on social media that-

Grape had fallen ill and would not be appearing in his enclosure.

And after his death, On Friday, the staff tweeted saying,

The Humboldt penguin Grape-kun passed away yesterday. Sincere thanks to everyone for supporting him until now.

Grape’s followers took to Twitter to express their condolences:
