The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the list of films competing for the Best Picture Oscar on Wednesday. Sushant Singh Rajput’s biopic on Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, called "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story" and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer "Sarbjit" are the two biggies from India that have made it to the long list of 336 feature films.
There are many criteria to be fulfilled to be eligible for the 2016 Academy Awards list mainly - a feature films must have played in a commercial theater in Los Angeles County between January 1 and December 31 for at least seven consecutive days on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format and must have a running time of more than 40 minutes.
Mira Nair’s "Queen of Katwe", season favorite "La La Land", the dramatic "Manchester by the Sea", the powerful "Silence" and the much acclaimed "Arrival" are amongst the favorites to win the black lady. Superhero movies "Deadpool", "Suicide Squad", "Captain America: Civil War" and "X-Men: Apocalypse" have also made to the A list.
