Indians Trust Their Government More Than Any Other Country : OECD Report

Good news for the Modi administration, despite (or thanks to) demonetisation and GST.

Every country’s government is the driving force for its countrymen. Believing in the government is important for the development of the country economically and culturally.

Having trust in the ruling system helps the government in making effective decisions. People's belief in their government can be gauged by parameters like whether or not citizens consider their rulers stable and reliable, whether the government is able to protect its people from risk and if it can effectively deliver public services.

According to the latest edition of the OECD's Government at a Glance report, Indians have the most, confidence in government. This report also featured other countries like Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Lithuania, the Russian Federation, and South Africa, among others.

According to the survey of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries, many as 73% people in India trust their government followed by Canada (62%), Turkey (58%), Russia (58%) and Germany (55%).

The survey was conducted last year with 15 countries participating. This survey also includes responsiveness and quality of services in three key areas: health care, education and justice.
