Albus Dumbledore was the most intelligent and sharp headmaster of Hogwarts. The challenge for Dumbledore's character was accepted by Richard Harris and it was a phenomenal act. The baton was carried forward by Michael Gambon following Harris’ death. The voice, costume, long white beard, and the portrayal of “the greatest sorcerer in the world” was a challenge ably met by the two veterans.
But have you ever thought of Naseeruddin Shah for the role of Dumbledore? The legendary actor was in fact approached to step into the shoes of Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore.
This is how he reacted when interviewed by TOI:
Sadly, he denied to audition for it.
Oh yeah! Imagine, if he would have agreed to audition, instead of Michael Gambon, we would probably have had the good fortune of witnessing Shah as the Headmaster of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!
