On May 10, people living at the Hulung Beach on Serum Island in Indonesia were astonished after they discovered a giant carcass of a mysterious sea creature washed up on the shore.

According to a media report, the carcass was first spotted by 37-year-old Asrul Tuanakota, a local resident of the village on the shore. But, after the creature was found, it quickly attracted a lot more people. When the creature was found it was 22 m long, 4 m wide and was weighing approximately about 35 tons floating in the water.

As per the locals, the creature started disintegrating in the water turning it red and also making a public spectacle. This can be seen in the videos that were uploaded online.

Initial reports speculated that the massive creature could be a giant squid or a sperm whale. However, Marcus Chua, a museum officer at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, told Mashable that the carcass appears to be that of a Baleen Whale, but the reports are yet to be confirmed.

A Facebook post stated that there will be research by a related institution or university on the cause of death of this giant creature.
