It’s that time of the year when the new year isn’t really new anymore and the fitness resolutions we made are about to be broken. It is also the time when you can’t decide what is more painful, breaking your new year resolution or cancelling your gym membership!
Now, if you have ever had a contractual agreement with your gym, you probably know how hard it is to end it.
This Redditor had to cancel his gym membership after moving out of the state. But since gyms don’t want to lose customers, they make the cancellation process as complicated as they can.
In his case, the gym people wanted the man to write a certified letter and a letter is what they received.
This Redditor decided to get a little creative with his letter writing skills and wrote the gym, a break-up letter. Yes, he framed his cancellation request as a legit break-up letter. Now that’s some commitment!
Have a look at his letter:
"Certain events in my life have put me in a different place, and while it was one of the more taxing decisions I've made as of late, it is the right one," he wrote, adding that the purpose of the letter is to "end my relationship with Planet Fitness.
I know I've been distant. But it's because I've changed. I have different needs now, and to be frank ... you really haven't changed at all.
I still think fondly of you, and the time we spent together as I drive by one of your many locations, Sometimes, when I'm alone, I even throw on one of my old 'power-pop workout' playlists and feel the rush of our past course through me as if we were still one, holding hands with your elliptical machine, and gingerly brushing my sweaty bangs out of my face as I huff and puff in a tumultuous vortex of sweat and endorphins.”
He also goes on to say that he has found a new fitness facility.
Ouch! That hurt!
