Pets are undisputedly the most important and the most adorable part of the family. They are the ones that usually go that extra mile to bring joy on our faces. But what this dog did after his family went all home alone on him is the sweetest thing you’ll read.

When Rusty’s family went on a vacation without him, the disheartened Australian terrier hitchhiked for 932 miles, just to find them.

After the Scudamore family (Linda, Stuart, and their kids, Eliza and Sam) from Goondiwindi, Queensland, left for their vacation without Rusty, the little one somehow managed to get himself on a truck that was Snowtown (South Australia) bound.  Whereas, the Scudamores, who were vacationing in Caloundra, Queensland, were actually about 1200 miles away from where Rusty was headed.

Sounds like the plot of a film? Wait, there’s more, and you won’t be disappointed!

Thankfully, the driver of the truck located Rusty’s family and took him back home. It was Rusty’s tag, that had the contact details of the Scudamore family, that helped the driver find his family.

Sigh of relief? There’s more.

Turns out, this isn’t the first time that Rusty has pulled a stunt like this. "Last time we went away he hitched a ride to Chinchilla. He’s really upped the ante this time making it all the way to South Australia," says Linda Scudamore.

“I get sent photos everyday of him being pampered ... he just loves being in the middle of all of the attention so this is just suiting him down to the ground,” she adds.

After Rusty’s hitchhiking adventure, the Scudamore family says, that the next time they go on a vacation, they’ll take Rusty along.

Now that will definitely make Rusty happy!

“The kids miss him and we’re expecting twins soon so are keen to have him home before the next amount of chaos happens,” Linda told the Australian News.
